Quality Assurance
  - Product Quality  |  International Standards  |  Factory Compliance.

Product Quality

The process of ensuring consistent, high quality products is one of the most “hands on” aspects of purchasing overseas. One seemingly obvious (but often overlooked) hurdle is to ensure that the factories internal Quality Control protocol system is in place and adequate. This is part of our on site factory inspection process and can preempt many problems and make our Quality Control process much less turbulent down the road.

A solid working relationship, making frequent visits in person, and having clearly defined protocols are the best ways to ensure high levels of compliance after the initial factory qualification.

International Standards

Adherence to both government and industry standards are increasingly important in the Promotional Products Industry. As the world becomes hyper sensitized to we must respond with the ability to squelch clients concerns and ensure compliance.

There are various standards that apply to different regions, the largest two being the United States and the European Union (however Source Abroad is very familiar with Latin American standards as well). The processes are similar in all regions; however, each region employs different acronyms and labs to test the product.

Familiar standards marking: UL, CE, GS, ETL

US bound products comply with FDA and EPA standards and under certain circumstances California Proposition 65.

We work our factory and testing agencies to obtain the proper certification depending on the product and ultimate destination.

Factory Compliance

Part of our factory qualification process involves approving the factory for environmental and social compliance. Our policy is to maintain strict and reasonable standards for the protection and benefit of all stakeholders. We understand that many Distributors work with large corporations whose sensitivity to these issues has been heightened in recent years.

Examples of standards:

  • Minimum age requirements
  • Maximum Hours per day/week
  • Safety condition of factory

We welcome Distributors to visit our manufacturers in person for large scale, long-term projects; Source Abroad takes pride in our policy of total transparency welcomes you to join us in a tour of factory facilities. This can also be a chance to visit Asia in a way that many people, in and out of our industry, never have an opportunity to do.
