Q1

I currently purchase products through domestic suppliers, even for larger projects. What are the advantages for me to work with Source Abroad on my larger orders?

Most domestic suppliers or "Factories" import product through agents or Hong Kong Trading companies, all of them have high fixed overhead and inventory costs. Even those with good supply chains, imprint domestically and carry inventory which all ads to the cost of the final good.

Source Abroad trims the fat and operates a lean and efficient organization, purchasing directly from the factory, keeping overhead cost to a minimum, and rarely holding inventory.

We subscribe to the popular business philosophy of JIT or "Just in Time" in order to pass the substantial savings and efficiency of this model along to our clients and the end user.

  • Average Sampling, Production and Delivery time via Sea to West Coast: 65-75 Calendar Days.
  • Average Sampling, Production and Delivery time via Air: 35-40 Calendar Days.

Note: Actual Pre-Production Samples will delay delivery by 5-10 Days

Q3

Does Source Abroad's have any minimums?

Although the greatest benefits of purchasing overseas involve larger volume orders, we negotiate the lowest possible MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) with our cooperating factories.

A good rule of thumb is $2000 minimum net sale, some products require more, some less. We welcome all pricing requests and treat each request on a case by case basis.

Q4

I need samples, what is the charge and how long does it take?

If the product is in our line we provide the sample at no charge or at EQP and ship on the Distributor's Freight account.

For "non-line items" we provide random samples free of charge; however, we do ask that you pay the actual freight cost for the sample from overseas (typically $50). "Non-line item" samples generally take 7-10 days.

Q5

Are the freight costs, Customs Duty, and all these other import charges I hear about included in your quotes, are there any "hidden" charges?

All charges, including customs brokerage and freight to the stated destination are included in our pricing.

We do not quote FOB China and leave you holding the bag and being surprised with an unexpected freight or US Customs Bill. Managing this important aspect of your order is part of the service we provide.

Our Standard destination for quoting is FOB Los Angeles Warehouse unless otherwise stated. Provide destination zip code and confirm the delivery location has "dock high" receiving facility.
